Remove EXIF Data on Mac

macOS Photos can hide a photo's location when you share or export, but it can't remove all EXIF; to strip everything from JPG, PNG, or HEIC files on a Mac, drop them into PixQuiet in Safari, which cleans them locally without uploading.

Drop JPG, PNG, or HEIC files here Metadata is listed first — then stripped locally

Strip all metadata here

  1. Drag photos from Finder onto the drop zone.
  2. Review what was found: GPS, camera, date.
  3. Click Strip EXIF and download the files, or one ZIP.

Leave Remove set to Remove all. JPG and PNG are cleaned without re-compression. HEIC is saved as JPG. Choose Location only if you want to drop GPS and keep the rest.

What macOS can do on its own

These options cover location. Camera model, lens, date, and software stay in the file.

Why nothing is uploaded

Removing metadata is about privacy, so the file shouldn't go anywhere. PixQuiet reads and rewrites it in your browser on your Mac.

FAQ

Can I remove EXIF on Mac without an app?

Yes. Open this page in Safari, drop the photos in, and download clean copies. Nothing to install.

Does Hide Location remove the GPS from the file?

It keeps the location out of what you share or export from Photos. Apple notes you can revert it, so the original location stays in your library.

Is it lossless?

For JPG and PNG, yes. Only metadata is removed; pixels aren't re-encoded. HEIC files are converted to JPG.

Can I clean many photos at once?

Yes. Drop a batch and download one ZIP.
