AVIF to JPG Converter
Drop AVIF images below. JPG is already selected — set the quality, then download files or a ZIP.
Drop AVIF images here and download JPG files that open in almost any app, website, or upload form. Conversion runs in your browser, so nothing is uploaded. Batch conversion is free. There is no file-count limit and no paid tier.
Animated files use the first frame. JPG fills transparent areas with white. PNG keeps transparency. HDR is saved as ordinary 8-bit color.
Where AVIF files come from
AVIF is a newer image format based on the AV1 video codec. Websites use it because it keeps images small, so a picture saved from a page may arrive as .avif. Browsers often show it, but many editors, older apps, and upload forms still reject it.
JPG is the usual choice for photos: it is read almost everywhere and stays reasonably small. For logos, screenshots, or images with transparency, use AVIF to PNG.
How to convert AVIF to JPG
- Drop one or more .avif files into the zone, or click to choose them.
- Set the JPG quality. Higher keeps more detail; lower makes smaller files.
- Download each JPG, or all of them as one ZIP.
Why nothing is uploaded
Your browser decodes the AVIF and encodes the JPG on this device. If the browser cannot read AVIF, the page loads a decoder that is part of this site and runs it locally. That download is the decoder, not your image. Once the page and, if needed, the decoder have loaded, conversion works offline.
Animated AVIF files become the first frame. HDR AVIF is saved as ordinary 8-bit color.
FAQ
Will I lose quality converting AVIF to JPG?
A little, because JPG compresses again. At a high quality setting the difference is usually hard to see. If you need no further loss, choose PNG.
What happens to transparent areas?
JPG has no transparency, so transparent areas are filled with white. Use AVIF to PNG to keep them.
Can I convert AVIF to JPG on iPhone?
Yes. Open this page in Safari and choose the files. If that browser cannot decode AVIF itself, this page uses a decoder that ships with the site and still keeps the file on your device.
How do I open AVIF on Windows?
Some Windows apps need an extra codec before they open AVIF. This page decodes the file in the browser, so you do not install anything.
Can I convert AVIF to JPG on Mac?
Yes, in Safari, Chrome, or Firefox. Some macOS versions can also open AVIF in Preview and export it. This page does not depend on that.
Is there an animated AVIF option?
No. An animated AVIF becomes a JPG of the first frame.
What about HDR AVIF?
The JPG is ordinary 8-bit color. HDR is tone-mapped as best the decoder can, so highlights can look flatter than the original.
