Convert HEIC to JPG on Windows

Windows can't open iPhone HEIC photos until you add Microsoft's HEIF and HEVC extensions; to skip that, drop the files into PixQuiet in Chrome, Edge, or Firefox and download JPG or PNG files, converted on your PC.

Drop HEIC, HEIF, or .livp files here or click to choose — multiple files OK

Convert in your browser

  1. Open this page in Edge, Chrome, or Firefox.
  2. Drag HEIC files from File Explorer onto the drop zone.
  3. Choose JPG or PNG, then download each file or one ZIP.

Nothing to install, and no admin rights needed. Useful on a work PC.

Why Windows can't open HEIC

HEIC photos are compressed with HEVC. To view them in the Photos app, Microsoft says you need two extensions from the Microsoft Store:

  • HEIF Image Extensions (free)
  • HEVC Video Extensions (paid)

You need both, even for photos. After installing, restart Photos. That lets you view HEIC; this page skips it and gives you JPG files that open anywhere.

Why nothing is uploaded

Many online converters send your photos to a server. PixQuiet decodes them in your browser on this PC. Load the page, turn off Wi‑Fi, and it still works.
