Convert a Live Photo to JPG

A Live Photo is a HEIC still plus a short MOV clip, so to get a JPG you convert the HEIC part: drop it into PixQuiet and download the JPG, converted on your device with no upload.

Drop HEIC, HEIF, or .livp files here or click to choose — multiple files OK

How to convert a Live Photo to JPG

  1. Find the still. On a computer, a Live Photo usually arrives as two files with the same name: a .HEIC and a .MOV. Use the HEIC.
  2. Drop the HEIC into the zone. Leave the MOV out.
  3. Download the JPG.

Only have the MOV? That's the motion part. Turn it into a GIF or an MP4.

On iPhone

Open the Live Photo in Photos and tap Edit. Tap the Live button to turn Live off, and the photo becomes a still of its key photo. To pick another frame first, move the frame viewer and tap Make Key Photo. You can also tap More (•••) > Duplicate > Duplicate as Still Photo when Photos offers that choice. The still stays HEIC unless your camera is set to Most Compatible. Then convert it here, or share it with Options > Most Compatible.

Why nothing is uploaded

The still is decoded in your browser in a Web Worker. Your photo stays on your device.

FAQ

Which frame becomes the JPG?

The key photo — the one you see when the Live Photo isn't playing. To choose a different moment, change the key photo on your iPhone first (Edit, then Make Key Photo), then convert that still.

Can I convert many Live Photos at once?

Yes. Drop all the HEIC files together and download one ZIP.

What about the .livp file I downloaded?

A .livp holds both parts in one package. See LIVP to JPG.

Does the JPG move?

No. A JPG is a single still image. For motion, use Live Photo to GIF.
