PNG to ICO Converter
Drop a PNG, JPG, or SVG. Tick the sizes, then download one .ico per image.
Each file becomes one .ico that holds the sizes you tick, for a favicon or a Windows icon. It is made in your browser. Batch conversion is free. There is no file-count limit and no paid tier.
16, 32, and 48 are selected. Non-square images are centered on a transparent square. SVG is drawn at 256 px or larger first, then scaled down.
What an ICO file is
An .ico file can store the same icon at several sizes. The browser or Windows picks the one that fits: a small one for a tab, a larger one for a shortcut. This tool writes PNG-compressed images inside the ICO, so transparency can survive.
16, 32, and 48 are selected for you. 64, 128, and 256 are optional. 256 is the largest size offered here.
A square PNG or SVG at least as large as your biggest size works best. If a raster image is smaller than the largest size you tick, that size is scaled up and the file row says so.
How to convert PNG to ICO
- Drop a PNG, JPG, or SVG into the zone.
- Tick the sizes to include.
- Download the .ico file, or a ZIP if you converted several.
To use it as a favicon, put it at the root of your site as favicon.ico, or link it from the page head. Need a PNG first? Use SVG to PNG.
Why nothing is uploaded
Resizing and packing happen in your browser, so a logo stays on your device. After the page has loaded, it works offline.
FAQ
What sizes should a favicon ICO include?
16×16 and 32×32 cover browser tabs. 48×48 helps on Windows. 64, 128, and 256 are optional when you also want a larger shortcut icon. 256 is the largest size this tool writes.
Does it keep transparency?
Yes for PNG and SVG. Transparent pixels stay transparent, because each size is stored as a PNG inside the ICO. JPG has no transparency, so those pixels stay opaque. Padding around a non-square image is transparent.
My PNG is not square. What happens?
It is fitted inside a square and centered, with transparent padding. Nothing is stretched or cropped.
Can I make an ICO from JPG or SVG?
Yes. Both work directly. An SVG is drawn at 256 px on the long side, or larger if you tick 256, and then scaled down. For WebP, convert first with WebP to PNG.
Does it work on Mac and iPhone too?
Yes. You can create the ICO in any current browser, including Safari.
